This week sees a series of hotly anticipated SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) functionality launched, as part of the SAP S/4HANA 2020 EWM Release.
Continuing to invest in EWM, its recommended solution for managing processes within more complex warehouse environments, SAP has focused its 2020 release on functionality for the Automotive industry.
New functionality developments have been introduced for the production supply process within automotive factories, with the aim of also enhancing the entire lifecycle of a product in production. The main areas that are covered in this latest update include:
- New EWM-TM Integration (Receiving)
- Missing Parts Handling / Pre-allocated stock
- Sequenced JIT Supply to Production
- Enhancements to Production Supply via Distribution Equipment
- Kanban Enhancements
- Quality Management Integration: Defect Handling for stock on PSA
- Synchronous Goods Movement Postings in Production
Production in the automotive industry relies on the right parts being received, in the right order, at the right time. The latest improvements are designed to streamline certain areas of the production process, such as bypassing the regular putaway process for stock that is urgently needed and the integration of distribution equipment to deliver stock to relevant PSAs.
In addition to the functionality developments specific to the production supply activities, SAP has also launched a series of additional improvements, relevant across the supply chain process, including enhancements to serial number management, improved IDoc management, logging and tracing of RF transactions and new and enhanced APIs.
